Summer daze

Posting? Me? Why has it been so long? I suspect it has something to do with sharing my life online now that my kids are older, 5 1/2, and aware not only of what I do but of what people think about it. That said, I am getting over that hurdle.

Summer, a time to go into scheduling hyper-drive for anyone home with children. School's out and the hours lay there, wide open, to explore, savor and, yes, fill. Last summer sort of took me by surprise. I hadn't really planned much, and suddenly my kids were staring at me for another craft project or story read or idea os any sort that would make their day... and let's remember a day in their life stretches so much infinately longer than a day in ours... fun.

So this year, we had a beach trip, summer camp at the Y, a month of gymnastics class, free movies at the cinema, now a few days of karate camp. It has been much smoother. But hey, they are older. I can let them go out into the yard without staring at them the entire time... they have bikes to learn to ride, butterflies to try and catch. And we did get a couple of chickens. No eggs so far but they eat almost anything, so chicken feeding is now a cherished activity.

Tomorrow we're attending the last free children's program at the Brandywine River Museum (apologies for not posting about it sooner). They do an excellent job and I highly recommend you jot it down on your to do list for next summer.

OK, I need to get on that what's for dinner train. Chat soon!
